■ 한·이집트 ‘전략적 동반자 관계’ 격상을 환영하며, 호혜적 번영과 글로벌 평화를 위한 새로운 여정을 기대합니다
 
압델 파타 알시시 이집트 대통령이 10년 만에 국빈으로 방한해 이재명 대통령과 뜻깊은 정상회담을 가졌습니다. 양국 정상이 양국 관계를 '전략적 동반자 관계'로 격상하는 공동성명을 발표하고, 조선 협력 양해각서 체결과 함께 2027년을 '한-이집트 상호문화교류의 해'로 지정했습니다.
 
2016년 ‘포괄적 협력 동반자 관계’를 수립한 지 10년 만에 이뤄낸 이번 관계 격상은, 두 나라의 협력이 단순한 교류 차원을 넘어 미래의 전략적 비전을 함께 설계하는 성숙한 파트너십 단계로 도약했음을 보여줍니다.
 
이집트는 아프리카와 중동, 유럽을 잇는 관문이자 수에즈 운하를 품은 해상 물류의 요충지입니다. 이러한 이집트의 전략적 입지와 한국의 세계적인 조선·해양 역량이 만나, 양국 경제에 새로운 성장의 길이 열리기를 기대합니다. 유구한 문명을 지닌 두 나라의 상호문화교류 또한 양국 국민을 잇는 든든한 가교가 될 것입니다.
 
중동 정세가 엄중한 이때 양 정상이 역내 평화와 안정 회복을 위해 공조하기로 뜻을 모은 것은 각별한 의미를 지닙니다. 이번 정상회담이 경제 협력을 넘어 규범 기반의 국제질서에 함께 기여하는 책임 있는 동반자 관계로 나아가는 이정표가 되기를 기대합니다.
 
오늘까지 이어지는 알시시 대통령의 방한 일정이 성공적이고 뜻깊게 마무리되기를 기원합니다. 더불어민주당은 국회 차원의 초당적 외교 지원을 아끼지 않으며, 한·이집트 양국이 평화와 번영을 함께 견인하는 신뢰의 동반자로 자리매김할 수 있도록 모든 노력을 다하겠습니다.
 
■ Warmly Welcoming the Elevation of Korea–Egypt Relations to a ‘Strategic Partnership’ and Looking Ahead to a New Journey toward Shared Prosperity and Global Peace
 
President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi of Egypt, on his first visit to Korea in ten years, held a meaningful summit with President Lee Jae-myung during his state visit. The two leaders issued a joint statement elevating bilateral relations to a ‘Strategic Partnership’, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on shipbuilding cooperation, and designated 2027 as the ‘Korea–Egypt Year of Mutual Cultural Exchange’.
 
Coming ten years after the two countries established their ‘Comprehensive Cooperative Partnership’ in 2016, this elevation shows that our cooperation has moved beyond exchange alone and matured into a partnership that jointly shapes a strategic vision for the future.
 
Egypt is a gateway linking Africa, the Middle East and Europe, and a vital hub of maritime logistics as home to the Suez Canal. We hope that the meeting of Egypt’s strategic position with Korea’s world-class shipbuilding and maritime capabilities will open new paths to growth for both economies. Cultural exchange between two nations of ancient civilization will likewise serve as a strong bridge between our peoples.
 
At a time when the situation in the Middle East remains grave, the two leaders’ commitment to work together to restore peace and stability in the region carries particular significance. We hope this summit will mark a milestone toward a responsible partnership that, beyond economic cooperation, contributes together to a rules-based international order.
 
We wish President Al-Sisi a successful and meaningful conclusion to his visit, which continues through today. The Democratic Party of Korea will spare no effort in providing bipartisan diplomatic support at the National Assembly level, so that Korea and Egypt may firmly establish themselves as trusted partners leading the way toward peace and prosperity together.
